Welcome from Sandra Stott
Welcome to River Stone Christian Fellowship’s new website. I am excited to introduce you to our church family.
Many of you may have heard of the song “We are Family”. We are a church that endeavours to walk as a family. We believe that each member has a part to play to ensure River Stone Christian Fellowship reaches her destiny as a whole and that we need one another to reach our own God-ordained destinies. Just like every family, we experience growing pains, and are all maturing at a different pace than one another, but it is our desire to have the grace to allow each and every one to grow and mature and be an active part of our growing family.
We all need one another, to experience all of the different facets of Jesus’ character that is birthed in us. The Word speaks of many “one another” scriptures, but some of my favourites are John 13:34 that reads, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another,” and “Love covers a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8).
There is action required when we live in community and it all begins with love. The Apostle Paul describes this love: “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails” (1 Corinthians 13: 4-8a).
We are to embrace one another, and there is a reason for this; we are not meant to walk alone. We need each other and we need the empowerment of Holy Spirit to help us to walk well, and with the right heart attitude.
It is not always easy to walk as a family, especially if our family of origin has been a challenging one. With the love of God as our focus, we can help people overcome the pains of the past to be free to walk together, to love the Lord with our whole hearts, and to express that love everywhere we go.
Over the next few months, you are going to hear from some of our leadership team in this blog. They will be sharing their hearts with you; for us to grow and mature into solid spiritual adults, having a great effect on our community, region and beyond.
We hope that you will join us to experience the incredible presence of God, His undying love for us and learn how to walk well as family. At RSCF we want everyone to feel welcome, learn the Word of God and be transformed by it. We want to truly demonstrate the truth of our tag line: Loving God, Loving People.
We look forward to meeting you, being with you and sharing the amazing testimony of God’s love that has transformed us into a family.
