Missions & Outreach
One of our core values at River Stone Christian Fellowship is taking the gospel outside the four walls of our church. The number of short-term missions’ trips that have emanated from our little church in the Ottawa Valley is lengthy. We take to heart this truth:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28: 19-20
Our Missions and Community Outreach Coordinators are Guy and Beth Robitaille. Following are some of the activities RSCF is involved in:
Cross Walk Clothing Cupboard
We have received a generous donation from a local merchant of 120 boxes of new clothing. It is our desire to make these available to the communities that we serve. To this end, on Saturday, November 6, 2021, the Cross Walk Clothing Cupboard received its first clients to pick out clothing they required. We have appealed to 8 local agencies who work with low-income clients, as well as our local churches, to send us referrals.
Cross Walk Toy Campaign
For Christmas 2021 we are also receiving donated toys from a different local merchant and tasked with distributing these to low-income families in our community. We will be soliciting help from local agencies and local churches to effectively distribute the toys to those most needing assistance this Christmas.
Arnprior Food Bank
River Stone has been a supporter of our local food bank for a few years. As a result of the pandemic, we began to assist Food Bank clients by delivering food to their homes. This has continued on and we are privileged to have a team of volunteers actively involved on a weekly basis.
Arnprior and District Neighbourlink Fountain
We support this local organization financially, but also collaborate with them in the distribution of clothing and toys at Christmas time. Find out more about them here. In conjunction with the Fountain, we endeavour to meet the needs of a family annually for Christmas.
The Big Give
RSCF and other area churches participate in this event on an annual basis. For the past few years, our church has given away free ice cream from our local hot spot in the summer months, The Flavour Container. On Saturday, June 5, 2021, where we served up 180 bowls and cones of delicious ice cream. Find out more about the event here.
Ottawa Inner City Ministries
This is a ministry to the homeless in Ottawa. In December 2020, we held a campaign to gather winter coats, gloves, undergarments and boots, as well as purchasing food for their food cupboard. In September of 2021, we delivered 15 boxes of new clothing to OIM from the church’s Cross Walk Clothing Cupboard. In further support of this organization, we connected with a resource who makes mats from recycled milk bags and arranged for them to be distributed to the homeless through OIM.
